Succession Plan Coaching

There are many obstacles to navigate during a transition, but getting succession right is critical to the long-term stability of a church and its mission.

Senior leaders often give little or no consideration to what will happen once they leave the organization. They sometimes think it’s too soon to begin planning for a transition that is still years down the road. But as the transition nears, a sense of anxiety grows. This is often due to a lack of plans or direction.

By developing a thorough succession plan, leaders can have a sense of peace and assurance.

Time moves quickly and the right time to engage in succession planning is now. The more time and intentionality that is given to prepare and implement a transition plan, the greater the likelihood of success for all involved. More time allows for creativity, flexibility, and growth.

During your Succession Planning coaching, our consultants will help you create a roadmap for your future and the future of your church.

Succession Planning Provides 4 Key Benefits

  1. Preparation for the church/organization as they transition to a different leadership.

  2. Equipping for the new leader as he/she steps into a new role.

  3. Support for the new leader during the first twelve months in a new role.

  4. Direction for the outgoing leader in their new season of life.

Larry was born and raised in Southern California. During his tenure as the lead pastor at North Coast Church in San Diego, he oversaw its growth from a small church plant with 70 adults to one of the largest and most influential churches in the country (with 8 local campuses, and a weekend physical attendance exceeding 13,000).

Larry is responsible for numerous innovative ministry strategies that have been widely adopted by the church at large; including the use of Teaching Teams, Sermon-Based Small Groups, and Video Venues, which spawned the modern Multisite movement.

He is the author of 10 books, including Sticky Church, Sticky Teams, Lead Like A Shepherd, Accidental Pharisees, and Thriving in Babylon.

He currently serves as a Kingdom Ambassador and a Teaching Pastor at North Coast Church, focusing on mentoring and coaching high-performance pastors, leaders, and churches, along with various church planting movements. His clients have included 19 of the 100 Largest Churches and 22 of the Fastest Growing Churches in the most recent Outreach 100 compilations.
